Dear Friends

Dear Friends,

Until 2005, our friend Jennifer led a normal life.  She attended St. Symphorosa grammar school, Queen of Peace High School, and received her BA from DePaul University. She was independent, successful in her communications career, active in Chicago politics and a member of Little City Foundation.  She had also just begun to develop a non-profit organization to make it easier for veterans with disabilities to apply for their benefits.

The medical term for this rare tumor is Falcotentorial Meningioma.  On August 31^st, 2005 Jennifer underwent a 14 hour surgery to have the tumor removed.  During surgery, there were complications leading to purposeful severing of the muscles holding her jaw in place and her head upright. Then in June 2007, she underwent a second surgery.  She suffers daily with chronic pain and frequent migraines which result in vision loss and occasionally hospitalization.  She takes numerous medications and sees multiple doctors weekly to manage her pain.

Medical bills for her surgeries, hospital visits, treatments and medications are extensive and ongoing.  In order to relieve the financial burden of current and future medical bills, her friends are hosting a fund raising event, “Friends4Jen” on Saturday April 25, 2009 at Hawthorne Race Course.

The committee for “Friends4Jen” is seeking donations that include, but are not limited to, gift certificates, silent auction items, beverages, merchandise, raffle prizes or monetary donations.  We are also in need of corporate sponsors for items such as t-shirts or koozies.  For further information and more ways you can help Jen, feel free to contact a committee member.
